It is wedding #3 this week so I have to stay focused but I had to do a very quick post. I haven't been doing much creating when it comes to paintings. (Though I have been very wedding creative these last couple of months.)  Thought I'd share what I wish I could finish.

I thought it would be a very cool idea to paint a painting for my kids when they got married. That was the plan. The reality - 3 DIY weddings in 1 1/2 months just made it a crazy idea. If only we lived in a perfectly timed world. Anyway, here is the only one that I got started - Logan and the Lion Tamer. It's the underpainting. I'm hoping that I get a life back after this week and finish it (and start the other two).

There are over 50 of these giant butterflies that you can see here
Here's a photo just so you can get an idea of the size of these beauties.

Artists used bits and pieces of maps, jewelry, gems, game pieces, beads, pennies, photos, hockey pucks, mirrors, buttons, legos, and mosaic tiles. A creative bunch. Here's a close up of Diane Katzman's piece.

Makes me want to get artsy with a butterfly. Or maybe just bid on one. Maybe you want to as well.
What would you put on your butterfly?

I know it's still July and I'm letting you know that October is National Arts & Humanities Month but I have a purpose. It's only 10 Fridays until October. Ten Fridays! (I know, see how close it is.) That doesn't give us much time.

I know every year when October rolls around you have been in a quandary as to how you are going to celebrate National Arts & Humanities Month. (I know, me too.) Well, actually I didn't even know it existed. But this year is going to be different for all of us.

We are going to get ourselves ready for National Arts & Humanities Month with a 10 step process. (Get it 10 Fridays?) And you could actually use some of these Friday steps for great go-out-together evenings. And when October rolls around you won't be riddled with all that guilt that you've felt every year:)

Check back tomorrow for your first step into the Arts.
